As a proud supporter of Pennsylvania educators, we provide a wide range of approved continuing education credits for teachers, including Act 48 courses in PA. We strive to enable relevant online professional development for educators in PA by offering courses for those teaching in school districts across the state, including in the cities of Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia as well as in Montgomery, Lehigh, Westmoreland, and Erie Counties. For educators looking for an affordable way to maintain their active teaching certificate while furthering the development of their teaching skills, we are not only the best choice, but the smart choice.
Continuing Education Credits for Teachers in Pennsylvania
Act 48 is a law passed in Pennsylvania stating that all professionally certified teachers in the state must keep their certificate active by completing additional courses to stay current in their field. The law requires that 180 hours worth of approved courses must be completed every five calendar years. The intention of requiring Act 48 Hours in PA is to keep educators on a continuing path of educational development. With this in mind, The Teacher’s Academy provides affordable and convenient avenues for all teachers, full-time or substitute, to keep their certification active while discovering new methods for making an impression on their students.
How It Works
We understand that Pennsylvania educators have five years to obtain 180 hours of professional development. In our catalog, you may choose from 3, 6, 15, and 18-hour online professional development courses for teachers in PA to satisfy your Act 48 hour requirements. In fact, all of the courses in our catalog are approved for Act 48 hours.
If you’d like to verify our approved provider status, we are listed on the PA Department of Education page as Act 48 Academy. Check out our Pennsylvania state page for more information.
Here's how it works:
- Once you have completed a course, the hours will be deducted from the total that you must achieve every five years.
- For example, if you have 180 hours remaining, and complete a 15-hour course, you will need to log 165 additional hours to complete your requirements.
- As long as we have your PA professional development number, we can upload your Act 48 hours directly to the state, which typically takes 5 to 7 business days to process.
